La Jolla has some of the most prized real estate in the US, due to its micro climate and spectacular views. It´s a quiet residential town with no night life, but it does have great high-end shopping, adventure sports and a very "know all your neighbors´ names" feel to it. San Diego is located about 125 miles south of Los Angeles and about 20 miles north of Tijuana, Mexico, or Baja California, as it´s more elegantly referred.
The downtown area is located in the Central "zone" of The City of San Diego, of which there are 7 other zones surrounding this small Central zone, making 8 total. They are listed as Northern, Northeastern, Eastern, Western, Mid-City, Southeastern and Southern (which borders Mexico).
Each of these zones consist of 5-25 different little neighborhoods within each one, where I have listed only a few of the most popular above.
